One of my favorite parts about LyricStudio is how it has helped artists of all genres and musical backgrounds. Whether you’re a pro like Chas Evans or just getting started, it has helped a number of musicians with their songwriting process – and it can help you, too.
As an accomplished songwriter and guitarist, Chas has received various awards for his work and has performed at the prestigious Carnegie Hall in New York City. He has written a number of songs for himself and other artists, including the song “High Expectations” recorded by former Fifth Harmony member, Ally Brooke for the film, “High Expectations.”
I’ll be honest, as a ‘harmonizer’ at heart, I fangirled a little when he expressed interest in sharing more about his solo project! Made with LyricStudio, his classic rock influenced song “Bitter Sweet Girl” has become a fan-favorite amongst his Soundcloud listeners.
What is the story and inspiration behind your song “Bitter Sweet Girl”?
“I sat down to write and knew I wanted to create something about a relationship you know that’s bad for you, but you can’t get away from. Relationships are like that for many, not being able to break free from someone who has that kind of control over you. I wanted to create a song that emulated that kind of situation.”
What is your creative process like? How has LyricStudio impacted it?
“I have been writing songs for others for over a decade now. By doing this, I have been able to seriously sit down and study song form in many different genres but never really wrote any lyrics for myself. When I get stuck, I can bounce an idea through LyricStudio and immediately keep moving forward.”
Do you have any new projects in the works?
“I just completed a project writing a song for the film “High Expectations” featuring vocalist Ally Brooke. Along with writing songs for clients, I’m currently in the process of writing a musical and completing my personal album. I also have a TikTok channel I’m very proud of that is a great resource for learning the guitar. The lessons are in small, digestible bites that someone can sit down and learn in a very short amount of time.”
